An exquisite Antique Scottish brooch modelled in solid Sterling Silver and set with eight pieces of plaid Scottish Agate around the outer circumference. Each is unique and boasts various earthy colours and patterned layers which are naturally formed, earning it the appropriate nickname ‘The Earth Rainbow’.
In the centre of the piece is a large, approx. 10ct Cairngorm which has a lovely treacle coloured hue and glows like a dark Citrine. It is claw set in a raised star shaped setting with lovely engraved patterning.
It is in excellent condition and was crafted during the mid Victorian era (Circa 1860) when there was a growing trend in Scottish jewellery due to Queen Victoria’s love of the pieces.
