Their second album was a triumph. Recorded in November 1969 and released the following year it was produced by the legendary Bill Szymczyk and is a pleasing mix of crazy Joe sonic guitar antics, strong songs and some surprisingly delicate numbers such as The Ashes, The Rain and I, which remains one of my favourite James Gang song of any incarnation. It was their highest charting position in USA peaking at #20 and staying on the chart for a whopping 66 weeks, though every one of their album charted.
